This is an mockup "teaser" poster for the film. The elements are rough, and we're looking for a better tag-line, but its a start.

Concept design art for the "Spotters," a small fleet of steam-powered auto-matical sentries. These will be turned into a 3D animated model for the film.

Tuesday, October 23rd '07An desert seen from high orbit. I hope to open the film in a way that will quickly establish the setting as a very lonely, sterile place, what will later be revealed to be an expanse of wasteland.

Notice the shadow falling over the world, revealing hints of patterned light coming from small towns on the edge of the "Barrens."

Monday, July 9th '07Because of the visual nature of Trash & Progress, conceptual art and design represents a large part of the pre-production work that needs to be done. Here's an example of one such piece that attempts to create the look for a particular shot in the film.

Here you see what will become part of the operations base of the world's Duumvirate government, lead by Polemarch Aprils and the Arch Secretary.

As of now, this is set to be a fairly early shot in the film.

Saturday, May 19th '07Pre-production work is officially underway for my ‘dream project’ sci-fi/noir film, Trash & Progress. This weblog will keep semi-periodic updates as to the status of the film’s development, and will attempt to inform readers as to the nature of the piece through conceptual art, story elements, casting, locations and so on.

To start this thing off, I’ll post a few of the prototype logos being toyed with for the film’s opening sequence. Click to view the high-res examples, and let me know what you think.

“Noir” Mockup

This black-and-white variation makes use of Trash & Progress's "film noir" roots, and tries to maintain a bold, more classic feel.

“Storm” Mockup

This color variation tries to express the more stylized, impending nature of the film's post-apocolyptic motif.

This project has come a long way, and still has quite a long way to go, but I’m making it my goal to get the ball really rolling this time. If all goes well, pre-production will finish in time for shooting to begin at the start of 2008. My hope with this journal is to motivate both interest in the film and the work that needs to be done, so check in every now and then if you want to know more.
